Which IPVanish Plan Is Right for You?
For most of our clients, Essential is all you need. Pick a bigger plan only if you want the extra security tools.
- Essential (CA$2.53/mo): the classic IPVanish package. High-speed VPN, unlimited devices at the same time, Threat Protection to block malicious sites and trackers, and 3 GB of eSIM data for travel.
- Complete (CA$2.79/mo): everything in Essential, plus IPVanish’s Next-Gen Antivirus. A good pick if the same account will cover your laptops and phones, not just your streaming box.
- Advanced (CA$3.83/mo): the full suite. Everything in Complete, plus 1 TB of cloud storage, 5 GB of eSIM data and IPVanish’s Secure Browser.
Our take: if the VPN is mainly for your Fire TV, Android box or Shield, go Essential. If you’ve been meaning to sort out antivirus for the whole house, Complete costs only about 26 cents more a month and is the better value.
Why Streamers Should Use a VPN
A VPN encrypts your connection, so your internet provider and anyone else on the network can’t see what you’re streaming. That matters whether you use Stremio, Weyd or Kodi.
- Privacy: your viewing stays between you and your apps.
- Fewer slowdowns: some providers slow down heavy streaming traffic; encryption makes that harder.
- Safer browsing: Threat Protection blocks known malicious sites, handy on boxes that run lots of third-party apps.
- Every device covered: one account works on your TV box, phones, tablets and computers.
Skip the free VPN apps. Many log and sell your data, which defeats the whole point. We explain why in Do You Really Trust Your “FREE” VPN?, and why a VPN is part of every setup in Kodi 22 Is Almost Here — Does It Change Anything?
